Rimmel

ain’t nothin’ wild about this

Well, hello there. Much to my surprise, I haven’t died (yet). I’ve simply had to take life may places in the past few months, such is the case when you family lives across the world from each other.

Aaaaaaanyway, back to regular programming (I think).

Now, we all know by now that purple really isn’t my thang, but good formula’s still good formula. And what’s a girl to do when her favourite drugstore polish line gets discontinued but pick up as many shades as she can despite her colour preferences?

Curse you Rimmel >.>

Rimmel Lasting Finish Pro - Wild Orchid

As I’ve said many times before, the formulation of the Lasting Finish Pro collection is superb, as well as the brush. I have applied two coats out of habit (also OCD), but a thick one coat is perfectly acceptable for those on the go or simply are lazy. However, this particular shade of lavender doesn’t suite my skin tone very well as it has a tendency of bringing out an uncomfortably dirty yellow/brownish tone on my hands. I swear it’s not my camera.

Now that we all know I’m still alive and kicking, I shall go have a nice, long (possibly threatening) talk with the employment deities about that job that I applied for that I really want.

GO SPURS EFFING GO!

This has been an interruption on your regularly scheduled program.
I need to find my Spurs shirt. Also, I am aware this is a horrible manicure. I don’t give a fuck.

GO SPURS EFFING GO!

back to basic black

I’m alliterating again!

I like black. Black is easy, simple, effortless and classic. To me black is the classic red nails.

But all black polish are not created equal. My first was Black Lingerie from Revlon. It was horrendous. The formula was too thin and watery. There was no shine in the finish and the colour was simply not black. It was a watery purplish-tint of a mess. Didn’t wear well either. Next was OPI’s Black Onyx. Superb formula, but pricey. And then came this beaut.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Pro – Black Satin

Yep, shitty phone pictures. Nope, I’m not sorry.
I love Rimmel’s Lasting Finish Pro line. The brush is just perfection in bristles.

And then three long days at the print shop later, I added my trusty matte top coat to refresh the mani. I have no words for how perfect matte black it. Absolutely no words. Please excuse the tip wear.

As a finishing note, I’m anticipating the next few posts to be backlogged phone pictures. Please blame family travelling internationally to come for Turkey Day and Trample Fest known as Black Friday.

hello world! i wave at thee with rimmel – red rock!

Oh hello there! Welcome to the cocoon of wonderment and silliness that shell here forth be known as Flying Rice and Polishing Nails.

Welcome! Welcome to my humble abode!

To be honest, I don’t know what I’m trying to accomplish with this flying adventure, but (as the saying goes) share and share alike and I shall do just so.
Now, I’m certainly not new to the nail polish phenomenon or food world, and am modestly acquainted with the blogging universe, but I’ve always had an inkling of a desire to the epidemic known as nail lacquer addiction and generally anything to do with food stuffs. And so here I am, ready with handfuls of fumy varnish and platefuls of whatever I’ve got, ready to attempt at making a dent in the ravenously dangerous place known as the Blogosphere.

Of course, a few disclaimers before my tiny plunge.

  1. I am not even remotely related to either the world of beauty or food. I’m simply good at eating and figuring out what I want to eat and buying nail polish.
  2. I’m lazy.
  3. Please be patient and put up with my dabble in photography. I also rely heavily on my phone camera.
  4. I ramble. A lot.
  5. I don’t remember the rest. Oh well.

And now, for the first bits of actual content, I present to you my current claw. (Yes, I know it’s not pretty, but hey! I’m working on it.)

I really don’t wear reds too often, but it is technically fall, and this is probably the most appropriately autumnal colour I own.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Pro – 380 Rock Red

Rimmel Lasting Finish Pro is, hands down, my favourite polish brand. The formula is impeccable, the packaging is a dream and the application is oh so perfecto. And it’s cheap! I do wish for a bigger colour range, you don’t get everything you want. And oh boy, look at all that noise on them pictures. That’s what you get for taking pictures with your phone as the sun is going down in a dark room. I am truly and deeply sorry for the crappiness of these pictures. So very sorry.

And with that, I bid you adieu. More to come.
